How and when to play Deadeye Operative, however, is fairly tricky. The goldGold cost isn't the lowest, at 11 goldGold, and it's price goes up further by the fact that it takes up blue to create. Assuming you're going to be using the Deadeye's clickAbility per-turn, while you may be able to harass and whittle down the opponent's economy, you won't be able to do any direct damage, as you'll be using all your tech towards Deadeyes. Deadeye's are currently a slightly more efficient attack than Steelspilter and can force your opponent to build lots of blockers than won't absorb if you are using your snipe ability. Furthermore, Deadeyes can hit Drones, and ONLY Drones, thus Wild Drones, Vivid Drones, Trinity Drones, and Doomed Drones are immune to their clickAbility.

Generally, Deadeyes work best in the mid game, where you are dealing enough damage to force your opponent to build more blockBlockers, but not enough to manage to breach. Deadeyes allow you to skip over your opponent's blockBlockers and hit their precious Drones, which they most likely will be unable to rebuild, as Engineers will tend to be delegated to defense. This in turn means that they cannot rebuild their defenses, eventually leading to your success.

Strategy

Deadeye Operative provides the unique AbilityAbility to take out your opponent's economy, being able to take out a Drone per turn, per Operative regardless of any of your opponents Blockerblockers. This, makes them fairly strong, as next to no other unit in the Random Set provides this ability with the exception of Apollo.

How and when to play Deadeye Operative, however, is fairly tricky. The GoldGold cost isn't the lowest, at 11 GoldGold, and it's price goes up further by the fact that it takes up Blue resourceBlue resource to create. Assuming you're going to be using the Deadeye's AbilityAbility per-turn, while you may be able to harass and whittle down the opponent's economy, you won't be able to do any direct damage, as you'll be using all your tech towards Deadeyes. Deadeye's are currently a slightly more efficient attack than Steelsplitter and can force your opponent to build lots of blockers than won't absorb if you are using your snipe ability. Furthermore, Deadeyes can hit Drones, and ONLY Drones, thus Wild Drones, Vivid Drones, Trinity Drones, and Doomed Drones are immune to their AbilityAbility.

Generally, Deadeyes work best in the mid game, where you are dealing enough damage to force your opponent to build more BlockerBlockers, but not enough to manage to breach. Deadeyes allow you to skip over your opponent's BlockerBlockers and hit their precious Drones, which they most likely will be unable to rebuild, as Engineers will tend to be delegated to defense. This in turn means that they cannot rebuild their defenses, eventually leading to your success.

If your opponent goes all-in and forgoes defense, sacrificing away all his Drones, Deadeye Operatives still provide AttackAttack if they don't activate their AbilityAbility. While Deadeyes are one of the least efficient attackers, AttackAttack is more useful than sniping non-existent Drones. The AttackAttack also threatens significant extra damage per-turn, and using the AttackAttack to breach may be often more useful than taking out a Drone, espicially if you can kill low health attackers such as Tarsiers.
