A Scorchilla

Scorchilla is an aggressive Green-red unit which produces large amounts of Attackattack, but only every three turns. It is part of Antares.

Strategy

The Scorchilla is an aggressive unit that applies a lot of pressure on the opponent, but with a long cooldown through Exhaust3 Exhaust. The Attack3 attack burst it gives is relatively cheap, making it easy to suddenly amass a lot of pressure in two turns, especially in the early game.

Similar to the Iso Kronus, the Scorchilla's periodic burst damage can be used to reduce the value of absorb for an opponent if all damage is loaded on one turn rather than spread across every turn. Since on the off turns the opponent will be absorbing nothing, more health worth of units is destroyed in the long run. Breaches are to be expected in low-econ games with lots of Scorchillas.

Unlike the Iso Kronus, the Scorchilla has flexible attack, which can come in handy against opponents lacking defense granularity or using FrontlineFrontline units. For instance it takes only 2 Scorchillas to take down a Polywall or Hannibull.

While a Scorchilla is waiting on defense, it can Blockerblock with its Health3 Fragile health, allowing it to effectively absorb 2 damage once, but making it very breach-vulnerable with just one health remaining.

Openings

A popular opening for Player 2 goes:

  1. DD
  2. DDC
  3. DA
  4. 2x Scorchilla

This opening applies a lot of pressure, threatening Attack6 on turn 4. It is also very efficient.

A variant of this, again for the second player is:

  1. DD
  2. DDC
  3. DA
  4. DD Scorchilla
  5. 2x Scorchilla

While slightly less efficient (it wastes one Red resource), a Attack9 burst on turn 5 can similarly be tough to deal with, and the two additional Drones allow for a less economically degenerate follow-up.
