Strategy

The Steelforge is a colorless unit that requires the player to already own a Blastforge, and allows the player to efficiently convert their Drones into Steelsplitters. This building holds synergy with other advanced units that take advantage of either having Steelsplitters (such as Odin) or having fewer Drones (such as playing against Deadeye Operative).

Going for Steelforges is not exactly a rush tactic, since at least three turns are required to get to your first attacking Steelsplitter (buy Blastforge -> buy Steelforge -> use Steelforge). Additionally, the limited blue resources that your Blastforges/Steelforges make will be competing for building Walls. However, there is a much higher defense potential in going from Drone to Steelsplitter than, say, building Forcefields or Ossified Drones

Being able to build Steelsplitters for effectively 1/3 the cost in Gold can allow players to mass attackers cheaply. Additionally, players can buy a Drone and use the Steelforge for only 5 Gold, making for a 1 Gold saving over just straight-up buying a Steelsplitter.
