The words " (except that you will have 5 less to spend on defense each turn)." communicate that when using Feral Wardens instead of Walls to absorb, defending is harder. This is because you don't start each turn with a 3 HP Wall already blocking (because the Feral Warden is down to 1 HP and now wants to attack). The words you changed it to, "(except that you will have the 5 to spend elsewhere each turn).", seems to imply almost the opposite. They literally mean that the difference between absorbing on Feral Warden over Wall is that you will have 5 to spend on non-defense tasks (it seems unclear whether this means 5 *more*, or *only* 5).
